Wardenafil

Wardenafil is an active substance that is classified as a type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitor, which is also an enzyme present in cavernous bodies. This compound is used to treat erectile dysfunction, most commonly sold as Levitra and Staxyn. The substance was developed by Bayer AG GlaxoSmithKline and Schering-Plough.

Wardenafil is the third most commonly used ingredient in the treatment of impotence. The chemical compound is an extremely strong and selective phosphodiesterase inhibitor specific for cGMP type 5, which is responsible for cGMP degradation in cavernous bodies. This medicine is intended exclusively for use by men.

Wardenafil - action

The action of the vardenafil chemical compound focuses on improving erection in men with erection disorders. Wardenafil restores normal erection by increasing blood flow to the penis. During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released, which activates an enzyme called guanyl cyclase. As a result, the concentration of cyclic guanosine monophosphate in cavernous bodies is stimulated. Vardenafil blocks phosphodiesterase and increases the effect of endogenous nitric oxide in cavernous bodies. For a chemical compound to work effectively, natural stimulation is necessary. Wardenafil causes a mild and transient reduction in blood pressure.

Although vardenafil is a highly safe chemical, it can cause undesirable effects. Side effects may occur in case of allergy to any of the preparation components or in case of improper use of the drug. The most common side effects are: dizziness, discomfort during vision, increased activity of aminotransferases, rash, erythema, back pain, muscles, muscle spasms, hypotension, nose bleeding, hypersensitivity to light, chest pain.

Wardenafil - contraindications

Medicines containing vardenafil may not be used by persons who are hypersensitive to any of the preparation components. The contraindications for use are past diseases and injuries such as ischemic neuropathy of the optic nerve, severe heart failure, kidney failure, hypotension, arterial hypotension, degenerative retinal diseases. It is not recommended to use vardenafil while taking other strong inhibitors.

Wardenafil - indications

The indication for the use of agents containing vardenafil is the treatment of penile erection disorders in adults. The substance is absorbed very quickly, so it does not settle in the body. The highest concentration of this compound occurs after 30-120 minutes for coated tablets and after 45-90 minutes for tablets that decompose in the oral cavity. Taking the drug during a meal extends this time by an additional 60 minutes.
